Step1: using your Wrapping paper scrapes, add largest part of tree first 
Step 2: Using another wrapping paper scrap, slightly smaller, add it above the first
Step3: Using another wrapping paper scrap, slightly smaller, add it above the last
step 4; Using another wrapping paper scrap, slightly smaller, add it above the last
Step5: Repeat with the smallest on top
Step6: add a star to The top

PROJECT: Create POPsicle Pop Artwork using texture and pattern

Step1: on 12x18 piece of Tag Board or card stock: Draw one line across horizontal center

Draw one line down Vertical center

Step2: (multitude of ways to add color here, we had just studied the color wheel and value)

Paint one primary Rectangle: add texture with POPsicle stick before it dries

Paint one secondary Rectangle: add texture with POPsicle stick before it dries

Paint one rectangle with any color and white: add texture with POPsicle stick

Paint one rectangle with any color and black: add texture with POPsicle stick

Step3: while that dries: Give students Tag board or card stock cut down to 4x6 pieces

Step4: ask students to create a different pattern on each

Students with use oils pastels for dots or stripes and finish back ground in watercolor

Step5: Cut these small pattern papers into rounded POPsicle shapes

Step6: Glue POPsicle stick to the back of each

Step7: Glue four new POPsicles into each of the large painted rectangles

PROJECT

Using large star cut outs and small star stamps create a negative star shape

Step1: Place the large star in the center of the paper

Step2: using the star stamps, stamp on stars all around the paper

Step3: continue with all the colors

Step4: remove the large star to reveal the negative star shape.

PROJECT

For this project we are only going to paint STRIPES with our color:

Step1: using your paint brush, paint one stripe on the bottom of your page

Step 2: paint the next color on top of the first but make it slightly smaller on both sides

Step3: paint the next color on top of the first but make it slightly smaller on both sides

step 4; paint the next color on top of the first but make it slightly smaller on both sides

Step5: paint the last stripe at the very top, this stripe should be the smallest

Step6: add stars to each of your stripes

Step7: add one star on top

PROJECT: Create a symmetrical Butterfly inspired by Andy Warhol

Step1: Fold a piece of Card Stock in half

Step2: On one half of the page draw half a butterfly in oil pastel

Step3: Fold the paper and rub until the butterfly transfers to the other half

Step4: draw in the lines so the two sides match 

Step5: using oil pastel draw in details on the wings, line on the body any ideas to make your

Butterfly unique. All details on one wing need to also on be on the other wing. 

Step6: using watercolor paint in the butterfly so it is symmetrical 

Step7: use oil pastel and paint the background another color and design. It does not have to be symmetrical.

First week practice drawing the hand in Blind Contour:

DISCUSSION: 

Contour line: what is it? 

Blind Contour drawings? What does blind contour mean?

Rules of Blind Contour: 

Do not look at your paper

Start at the top of the object

Follow the object with your eyes and move your hand as your eye moves

Do not pick up your pencil for the duration of the drawing time

If you finish go over the shape again until time runs out

PROJECT: 

Practice Using charcoal sticks draw your hand with blind contour 

Step 1: place your non drawing hand on the table in a fun position using a portion of it to hold your paper down

Step 2: start at the top portion of the hand and begin to move your eye around your hand

Step 3: using charcoal let your drawing hand move along the paper without looking at the results until the end
